Generous contributions and grants from individuals, foundations and corporations make possible our efforts to enhance the educational success of students with disabilities. To download a donation form, click here. We accept credit cards and checks.

The Special Education Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to assist students with disabilities to achieve success in their endeavors beyond the classroom.

The Foundation provides support and assistance beyond what tax dollars
Casey, in his car equipped with hand controls appreciates the independence his car affords him. The Foundation provides specialized equipment to students with disabilities.
can do, primarily to students with disabilities who receive services from the Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD). This includes not only students in self-contained SSD buildings and in resource rooms in 23 county districts, but also students in technical schools, and in private and parochial schools who participate in SSD after-school programs. More than 30,000 students receive SSD services. Disabilities range from mild to severe with the majority having learning disabilities. Student ages range from 3 to 21.

The Foundation is completely independent of SSD and relies solely on private donations and corporate and foundation grants for funding. No financial support is received from SSD, government sources or the United Way. The Foundation's activities are guided by its own volunteer board of directors, and it employs an executive director.

In our 2009-2010 fiscal year, we provided approximately $250,000 in student financial assistance and programs. We hope to increase that amount for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Special Education Foundation funds:

Students scholarships
Camperships
Specialized equipment
Teacher mini-grants
