Irene Orlando was a long-time Special School District administrator and expert in the field of autism. She died in January 2009. Her dedication to students with autism spectrum disorder has inspired her co-workers and family to organize tributes to Irene to raise money for scholarships, camperships and equipment for students and mini-grants for teachers of students with autism. A kick-off fundraiser was hosted by Irene's niece Kellie Hynes and her husband Bob Guller in June 2009. The first annual trivia night in Irene's memory was held April 23, 2010, at the Kirkwood Community Center. For more information, call 314-567-8100.
