SPECIAL OLYMPICS MISSOURI TO HONOR SPECIAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Foundation to be honored at Special Olympics Missouri Awards Banquet in January
On December 11, the Special Olympics Missouri notified the Special Education Foundation of their selection as the Special Olympics “Outstanding Organization of the Year” in tribute to the Foundation’s numerous donations to and support of Missouri Special Olympics. The award will be presented to the Foundation at the Special Olympics Missouri Awards Banquet on January 20 at the Lodge of the Four Seasons, Lake Ozark. The Foundation was chosen by the Special School District Area of the Special Olympics Missouri. This recognition is given to only one business or organization in the St. Louis community. Other organizations in the state also receive recognition.
“We are honored to receive this award,” stated Gene McNary, Foundation Board President. “The Foundation is very committed to helping and recognizing youth in their pursuit of athletic achievements. It is wonderful to see these young people reach their goals!” McNary will accept the award on behalf of the Foundation.
During the past five years, the Special Education Foundation has been a strong supporter of the Special Olympics. The Foundation has provided financial support for uniforms, medals and ribbons, athletic fees and special events. Recently, the Foundation awarded a grant to Special Olympics to help with assessment costs for athletes.
The Special Education Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to assisting students with disabilities in areas not supported by tax dollars. The Foundation does this through scholarships, camperships, teacher mini-grants for innovative classroom projects, specialized equipment such as hearing aids and eyeglasses, leadership programs, and student recognition. The Foundation relies solely on private donations for support.
