Northview Finishes Strong with End-of-Year Celebration

While many people know the Special Education Foundation's Women Leaders for their support of the annual Starfish Awards and former fashion shows, their impact extends far beyond this special celebration. Each year, the Women Leaders dedicate funding to support innovative projects and experiences identified by principals throughout the Special School District, helping enrich the lives of students with disabilities.

Northview School was awarded a $1,840 Principal Grant to support its end-of-the-year celebration. The original plan included a gaming truck, rolling cars, and a dunk tank—activities designed to reward students for their hard work and accomplishments throughout the school year.

As often happens in Missouri, Mother Nature had other plans. Despite the rain, it did not dampen the festivities. Fortunately, thanks to flexibility and creativity, the celebration continued without missing a beat. They were able to keep the game truck, but instead of the rolling cars and dunk tank (outside only activities) we switched to a bounce house obstacle course and a large-scale "Simon Says".

The successful event is a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Women Leaders, whose support helps create memorable experiences and opportunities for students across SSD schools. Whether honoring outstanding educators through the Starfish Awards or funding special projects that bring joy directly to students, the Women Leaders continue to make a meaningful difference throughout our community.

The Special Education Foundation is grateful for the dedication and generosity of the Women Leaders and their continued investment in helping students with disabilities thrive. Together, we continue to positively impact the lives of students with disabilities.
