Students with disabilities do not always have the same opportunities to earn college scholarships—but thanks to our donors, along with educators who help identify students pursuing post-secondary education, the Special Education Foundation (SEF) is able to award scholarships that truly change lives. Your belief in your students has helped them take meaningful steps toward independence, confidence, and a future filled with possibilities.

This year, we are proud to offer 7 scholarships totaling $32,500 through our Scholarship Program:

  • John Cary Scholarship – awarding five $5,000 scholarships
  • Jane Vickrey Scholarship – awarding one $5,000 scholarship to a Leadership Academy graduate
  • Christopher Davis Scholarship – awarding one $2,500 scholarship to a student from Ritenour

We know there are many deserving students across the Special School District (SSD), graduating seniors who are planning to pursue any form of post-secondary education—whether that’s a four-year college, community college, technical school, vocational program, or certification program.

“College is going relatively well so far. I love the campus, and my classes are great. I’m really grateful for receiving the scholarship!!”

~Zion Norman, Olivet Nazarene University

“It has been such a whirlwind, but the first couple of weeks have been AMAZING! The view, people, classes, and roommates are all so good! Thank you so much!”

~Ian McDowell, Covenant College

“School has been keeping me very busy. I’ve become more involved on campus and working in retail at Stallone's Formal Wear. I also showed a collection in the university fashion show. As always, thank you and SEF again for investing in my future. It is deeply appreciated, and I am continuing to grow in my career because of it.”

~Constance Anthony, Lindenwood University

These scholarships are designed to support students wherever their path may lead, as long as it helps them build skills, independence, and a meaningful future.

If you are a family member of a graduating senior, we encourage you to explore this opportunity and apply. If you are an educator, transition specialist, or staff member, we ask that you help spread the word, encourage students to apply, and share this information with families and transition teams.
