Time is running out! The Special Education Foundation (SEF) is making its final call for scholarship applicants, and we don’t want eligible students to miss this opportunity.

This year, SEF will award seven scholarships, ranging from $2,500 to $5,000, to support students with disabilities as they pursue their educational goals. Applicants may apply for one of three scholarship opportunities, each honoring an individual whose legacy reflects leadership, service, and a deep commitment to students.

Available Scholarships

Jane Vickrey Leadership Scholarship
Established in 2025 in loving remembrance of Jane Vickrey, this $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed the Fred Saigh Leadership Academy. Jane believed deeply in giving back to the community and remained actively involved with SEF even after retirement, serving as a board member and liaison to the Leadership Program.

2025 recipient Lilah Durham of Brentwood High School

John Cary Scholarship – Presented by Emerson
Established in 2016, this $5,000 scholarship honors the late John Cary, former superintendent of the Special School District of St. Louis County. Named in recognition of his unwavering commitment to excellence and tireless advocacy for students with disabilities, this scholarship supports students who embody those same values.

2025 recipient Adam Abdulla of Parkway West High School

Christopher Davis Scholarship
The $2,500 Christopher Davis Scholarship, generously provided by the Ronald Davis family, is awarded to a deserving student from the Ritenour School District. Established in 2005 in memory of Christopher Davis, a proud Ritenour alumnus, this scholarship continues his legacy by opening doors to educational opportunity.

2025 recipient Genysha McNeal of Ritenour High School

 Deadline: Friday, January 30

Educators and families play a critical role in helping students with disabilities access life-changing opportunities. If you know a student who is working hard toward their educational goals, now is the time to encourage them to apply.

If you know a student who is pursuing post-secondary education—or are one yourself—apply now.

The Special Education Foundation’s scholarships are designed to support students who may not always have access to traditional scholarship opportunities. Your recommendation, guidance, and encouragement can make all the difference in helping a student take this important next step toward their future.
