Volunteers are at the heart of everything the Special Education Foundation (SEF) accomplishes. Through the SEF Board of Directors and the generosity of individuals who give their time and talents, SEF continues to expand programs, host meaningful events, and create opportunities that empower students with disabilities to build confidence, independence, and brighter futures.
For more than 40 years, SEF has supported thousands of students served by the Special School District of St. Louis County by funding programs and services not covered by tax dollars. From scholarships and adaptive equipment to leadership development and camp experiences, these supports and services are made possible because of our strong and compassionate volunteer community.
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with SEF is more than lending a helping hand—it’s about being part of something bigger. When you volunteer, you help:
- Support programs that empower students with disabilities
- Connect with others who are passionate about making a difference
- Contribute to meaningful community events
- Ensure students and families continue receiving critical resources and support
