Today is Give STL Day—a powerful opportunity to come together as a community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of local students with disabilities.
When the school year ends, many students lose more than just classroom instruction. They lose the daily structure, social interaction, and consistent opportunities to build essential life skills. For families already navigating the complexities of special education, these gaps can be overwhelming. At the same time, the cost of summer camp continues to rise, putting these critical experiences out of reach for many.
That’s where the Special Education Foundation’s Kid-to-Camp program steps in.
Why Camp Matters—for Kids and Their Families
Kid-to-Camp provides more than just a summer activity. It offers students a safe, structured environment where they can continue to grow, learn, and connect. At the same time, it provides families with much-needed support—allowing parents to maintain work schedules, manage daily responsibilities, and take time to recharge.
For many families, camp is the difference between a stressful school break and one filled with stability, growth, and opportunity.
For students served by the Special School District, camp is an essential extension of their development. Through Kid-to-Camp, students experience:
Meaningful social interaction and the chance to build friendships
Opportunities to strengthen communication and teamwork skills
Increased confidence and independence
Continued learning through engaging, structured activities
Exposure to new interests and experiences
Physical activity and outdoor exploration
Cooper Stone, a 5th grader in the Lindbergh School District, wanted to give. He created his own fundraiser selling candy bars at his church. He raised $50 and chose the Special Education Foundation as the recipient of his donation to help support kids with disabilities.
Your Gift Makes This Possible—Today
Our goal is simple but impactful: to ensure that every child who can benefit from camp has the opportunity to attend—especially those whose families may not otherwise be able to afford it.
Your gift today can open the door to new friendships, new experiences, and lifelong memories. It can give a child the chance to grow in confidence and independence—and provide a family with relief, support, and peace of mind.
One day. One gift. A lifetime of memories.
Join us today for Give STL Day and help ensure every child has the chance to experience the joy and growth that camp provides.
