Fall Cohorts Now Forming for the Autism Independence Project

As students prepare to head back to school, it's the perfect time to build the social skills and confidence they'll use throughout the school year. The Special Education Foundation is now enrolling students for Fall 2026 cohorts in the Autism Independence Project (AIP).

The Autism Independence Project is a partnership between the Special Education Foundation and iSocial, an evidence-based, virtual social learning program designed for students with autism. Through engaging small-group sessions, students strengthen essential life skills, including conversation, friendship-building, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and self-confidence, all in a supportive environment with peers of similar ages and abilities.

One of the greatest benefits of the program is its convenience. Sessions are held after school and virtually, allowing students to participate from the comfort and familiarity of their own home while connecting with peers in an interactive online setting.

My son was at a brand new school in 6th grade and was struggling socially. He’d been struggling to make real friends who share his interests.  In the past, other children have not been welcoming him. Since iSocial, this program is helping him develop the right social skills to adapt and use at school. Thank you to SEF’s Autism Independence Project; he was able to participate to gain these new social skills.” ~Happy Mom

Before applying for tuition assistance, families will first be connected with an iSocial representative to determine whether the student is a good fit for the program and to identify the cohort that best matches their age, abilities, and interests.

If the student is determined to be a good fit, the second step is to complete the Special Education Foundation's tuition assistance application for consideration.
