The 3rd Annual Starfish Awards was an unforgettable evening of inspiration, gratitude, and celebration as we honored eleven extraordinary individuals whose dedication has made a lasting difference in the lives of students with disabilities throughout St. Louis County.
Held on June 11 at The Reverie STL in Chesterfield, the event brought together educators, administrators, support staff, community leaders, families, and supporters to recognize those who embody the spirit of the Starfish Parable—the belief that one person can make a profound impact.
This year's honorees represented a wide range of roles, including teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, social workers, administrators, and community advocates. While their titles may differ, they share a common commitment: ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed networking, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and entertainment from an electric violinist while celebrating the remarkable achievements of our award recipients. Attendees also participated in the event's first-ever silent auction, helping raise additional funds for Special Education Foundation programs benefiting students with disabilities. A highlight of the evening was hearing directly from several award recipients as they shared heartfelt reflections on the students, families, and colleagues who inspire their work every day. The evening was made possible through the dedication of the SEF Women Leaders, planning committee members, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and attendees who came together to celebrate these exceptional individuals and support the mission of the Special Education Foundation.
